Promotion Recognition – Calhoun Fire Department

All of us here at The Calhoun Fire Department would like to take the time to Congratulate and recognize the following employees on their promotions this week within our department.

BILLY GREEN, BRETT SILVERS and JESSE MILLS.

Billy has been a full-time employee of the CFD for the past 16 years and has been serving the department as a Lieutenant/Intermediate EMT. Following his promotion, he will now hold the title of “Battalion Chief”.


Brett has been a full-time employee with the CFD for the past 11 years serving as a Firefighter/Intermediate EMT. Following his promotion, he will now hold the title of “Lieutenant”.


Jesse has been a full-time employee with the CFD for the past 6 years serving as a Firefighter/Advanced EMT. Following his promotion, he also will now hold the title of “Lieutenant”.

Congratulations” to each of you on your accomplishments, along with these well-deserved promotions. All of your hard work and dedication is very much appreciated and we wish each of you all the best as a new chapter of your journey begins.

A partnership between Calhoun Utilities, Calhoun City Schools and the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) installed a Solar Array at the Calhoun’s Utilities offices – 700 West Line Street. On sunny days the 48 kW Array produces enough energy to power about 6 typical homes.

Calhoun Electric Department Receives National Commendation for Electric Restoration Efforts in Abbeville, LA in Response to Hurricane Delta

The Calhoun Electric Department has received a national commendation from the American Public Power Association for its support in electric power restoration efforts in Abbeville, LA.

In October, Calhoun Electric Department sent crews to assist Abbeville, which suffered widespread outages as a result of Hurricane Delta.

Calhoun Electric Department participates in the American Public Power Association’s Mutual Aid Network, which coordinates with utilities and authorities during widespread power outages.
