Utilities Engineering

The Utilities Engineering Department plans, designs, and regulates improvements and extensions to the City of Calhoun water distribution and sewage collection systems. Our primary efforts fall into two categories. Firstly, we perform plan reviews and construction observations to ensure that water and sewer infrastructure, built during private land development, meets City standards. And secondly, we design and manage the construction of system improvement projects that the City undertakes.

The Engineering Department also collects infrastructure mapping data for inclusion in the City’s GIS (Geographic Information System). Advanced GPS surveying equipment is used to accurately locate the elements of the City-wide water and sewer network, such as, pipelines, manholes, valves, etc.
