Ordinance Amendments – Planned Residential Development

The Mayor and Council of the City of Calhoun will hold public hearings at the Depot Community Room, 109 South King Street, Calhoun, GA on November 8th at 7:00 pm for an ordinance to amend, strike or change certain sections of Part II – Code of Ordinances, Appendix A – Zoning, Article VII – Use Requirements by District, Section 7-14, PRD, Planned Residential Development; to repeal all conflicting ordinances, to fix an effective date; and for other purposes. November 2nd Municipal Election

Early voting will begin on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 and will end on Friday, October 29, 2021. Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. There will be early voting on Saturday, October 16, 2021 and Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 9 a m. until 5 p.m. in the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office. The Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office is located (across the street from the Post Office) at 408 Court Street, Calhoun, Georgia.

Municipal General Election Logic and Accuracy Testing

Notice is hereby given that the logic and accuracy testing and preparation of the voting equipment to be used in the November 2, 2021, Municipal General Election for the City of Calhoun and the Town of Resaca will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Such preparation and testing will continue from day to day until complete and is open to the public and members of the public are entitled to be present during the preparation and testing. Said testing and preparation will be conducted at the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office located at 408 Court Street, Calhoun, Georgia.

Qualifying Results for November 2nd General Election

Qualifying for the municipal general election was held August 16th through the 18th with the following qualifying:

City Council Post 3: George R. Crowley, Incumbent
Ed Moyer
City Council Post 4: Ray Denmon, Incumbent
Alvin Long
School Board Post 1: Andy Baxter, Incumbent
School Board Post 2: Rhoda Washington, Incumbent
School Board Post 3: Stephen King

Early voting will begin on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 and will end on Friday, October 29, 2021. To request an absentee ballot by mail contact the Gordon County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office at 706-629-7781. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is October 22, 2021.


The last day to register to vote for the municipal general election is Monday, October 4, 2021. Registration is available at the Gordon County Board of Elections Office, City Hall or other locations as required by Georgia Law.
