The Department of Revenue will be performing a system upgrade over Labor Day weekend. The Georgia Tax Center (GTC) will be unavailable beginning Friday, September 2 at 8 pm through Monday, September 5 at 8pm. Upon completion of the new upgrade local government alcohol renewal applications will need to be completed via the Georgia Tax Center in conjunction with the renewal of your State alcohol license. The Department of Revenue has provided a pdf entitled “Read more about what to expect after the GTC upgrade” which is available on the GTC website.
All licensees holding a pouring license will be required to complete the “Annual Report – Alcohol Pouring” report in addition to the other required renewal documents. These documents will be available for download through the GTC application process. If you would like to review the Annual Report-Alcohol Pouring form and other required forms you may do so by following this link:
Please remember, all licensees under this article are required to renew their licenses annually and in a timely manner on or before January 1st each year, and requiring approval by Mayor and Council at a regular scheduled meeting. For this reason, we are requesting renewals be submitted on or before November 15th to allow for timely processing of your application. Once the GTC portal opens on September 6th, local alcohol licensees may begin the renewal process.
O.C.G.A § 3-2-7.1 requires the Department of Revenue to develop and
implement a state-wide centralized application process for initial
applications and renewals of retail licenses. The centralized licensing
process provides a way for retail licensees to simultaneously apply for such
licenses and renewals online. The license types included in the centralized
licensing process are retail (beer/wine), retail package, consumption on
premises (includes distilled spirits), and special events.
If you have any questions, please contact Judy Craig, Business License Clerk at 706-602-5631 or Sharon Nelson, City Clerk at 706-602-5501.
