Cemetery Caretaker – Public Works

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for a Cemetery Caretaker.

Qualifications include the ability to do manual labor, including lifting and carrying up to 100 lb.; must have a valid GA driver’s license.

Responsibilities include supervising the maintenance of the grounds of Fain and Chandler cemeteries; selling lots and maintaining accurate records of ownership and burials on lots; and locating grave spaces for outside contractors for grave digging and setting monuments. Must be courteous and able to provide professional customer service by answering phone calls, responding to correspondence, and assisting customers.

Main Street Coordinator

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for a Main Street Coordinator. This is a part-time position.

Responsibilities include serving as a consistent, professional representative of the DDA in the merchant community, support the planning, logistics, and execution of downtown events, assist with the annual sponsorship outreach process, support the Director on special projects and organizational priorities as they evolve, and perform other duties as assigned that are reasonably incidental to this role

Qualifications are experience in community development, economic development, nonprofit work, business, public relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with demonstrated relationship-building skills and community credibility are strongly encouraged to apply. Georgia Main Street training will be provided. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Community Development – City Planner

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for a City Planner in the Community Development Department.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing professional planning and urban design services and performing long-range planning activities regarding growth management, transportation planning, comprehensive planning, downtown development, zoning, and urban design. Reviewing site development plans, reviewing subdivision plats, administering development-related ordinances and regulations, assisting, and directing developers and individuals, approving zoning related permits, and performing additional tasks as assigned. Reports directly to the Director of Community Development.

Qualifications are valid Georgia driver’s license; Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or closely related field; supplemented by a minimum of one-year previous experience and/or training involving urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, and site plan review; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
