The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for Apprentice Powerline Worker with the Electric Department.
This position is responsible for learning how to safely install, operate, repair, upgrade, and maintain the overhead and underground electric infrastructure. Duties include pole climbing, rigging, operating bucket trucks, digger derrick, backhoe, excavator, hoists, wenches and other mechanical equipment.
Qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of post-high school training in electrical powerline technology. The two years of post-high school training can be a combination of line work experience and formal training. The candidate should have good mathematical and computer training aptitude. Valid Georgia driver’s license with commercial license required within 90 days of employment.
