Inventory Specialist – Electric Department

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for an Inventory Specialist in the Electric department.

The role supports daily operations by maintaining organized storage areas, managing inventory levels, and ensuring materials are available when needed.

Qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent, and must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to do heavy lifting over 100 pounds; ability to work from the ground, ladders, or forklifts. This position requires a self-motivated person with the ability to work individually or as a team.

Golf Maintenance Director – Fields Ferry Golf Course

The City of Calhoun is seeking a qualified Golf Maintenance Director to plan, organize, and direct all operations of the golf course maintenance department. This position is responsible for the overall care, maintenance, and presentation of Fields Ferry Golf Course and grounds, ensuring a safe, attractive, and enjoyable playing experience for patrons while efficiently managing staff, budgets, and resources in compliance with applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct daily golf course and grounds maintenance operations.
  • Develop and implement agronomic and maintenance programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Lead maintenance staff recruitment, training, supervision, and retention.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance projects, personnel, and equipment usage.
  • Monitor and control payroll, supplies, chemicals, fertilizers, and inventory.
  • Inspect course conditions regularly and adjust maintenance practices as needed.
  • Assist with preparation and monitoring of operational and capital budgets.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, or a related field and a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience;
    or an equivalent combination of education and substantial professional experience in golf course management.
  • Knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, irrigation systems, chemical application, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage budgets.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Georgia Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License.

Laborer – Waste Water Collection

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for a laborer in the Waste Water Collection department.

Qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a CDL within six months; the ability to do manual labor such as digging and cleaning out ditches to install new sewer lines; make sewer taps; lay pipe; operate a jackhammer and air drill. Must be able to lift to 100 lbs. Emergency standby on a rotational basis is required.

Fire Inspector – Fire Department

Duties and responsibilities include conducting fire inspections, observing new construction and remodels to ensure fire code compliance, as well as conducting fire prevention classes, overseeing permit approvals, managing the fuel depot, and assisting with ordinance maintenance for fire code changes.

Minimum Qualifications include possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent; must be able to obtain certificates such as fire inspector, UST certification class A operator, Life Safety Code, and Life Safety Educator promptly.

Basic Firefighter – City of Calhoun Fire Department

The City of Calhoun Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Basic Firefighter.

Qualifications to apply are:

  • Must be at least 18 Years old.
  • Have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Are required to have a valid Georgia driver’s license (progressing to class E or F) and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must not have been convicted of a Felony within the last 10 Years.
  • Be physically prepared to take a Timed, Pass or Fail test, which is the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), as prescribed by the Georgia Firefighters’ Standards and Training Council.
  • Have the ability to pass an extensive background check before being considered for a position.
  • Pass a Medical evaluation and Drug screening after being offered a position.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete and pass a 14-week Rookie School to become a State of Georgia Certified Firefighter, progressing to Firefighter 2, and maintain this certification throughout employment.

Successful qualified applicants will be contacted about the date and time of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and practice times. Contacted applicants will then receive an information packet concerning the requirements for the CPAT.

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for a City Planner in the Community Development department.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing professional planning and urban design services and performing long-range planning activities regarding growth management, transportation planning, comprehensive planning, downtown development, zoning, and urban design. Reviewing site development plans, reviewing subdivision plats, administering development-related ordinances and regulations, assisting, and directing developers and individuals, approving zoning related permits, and performing additional tasks as assigned. Reports directly to the Director of Community Development.

Qualifications are valid Georgia driver’s license; Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or closely related field; supplemented by a minimum of one-year previous experience and/or training involving urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, and site plan review; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
