Quorum Notice

The City of Calhoun will conduct a special zoning training session for the Mayor, City Council, and members of the Zoning Advisory Board on Wednesday, June 18th, beginning at 10:00 AM. The training will take place at the Calhoun Depot, 109 South King Street. While a quorum of both the Mayor and Council and the Zoning Advisory Board may be present, no official business, policy decisions, or public matters will be discussed, presented, or voted upon during this session. Proposed Changes to Rate and Fee Resolutions

The City of Calhoun will hold the first reading of proposed changes to the rate and fee resolutions for both the City of Calhoun and Calhoun Utilities on Monday, June 9, during the regular City Council meeting. The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Calhoun Depot, located at 109 South King Street. These proposed changes will be considered for adoption on June 16.

Second Public Hearing on the Annual Operating Budget and Capital Plan

The Mayor and Council of the City of Calhoun will hold its second public hearing on the City’s Annual Operating Budget and Capital Plan for the fiscal year July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 on June 9, 2025, at 7:00 P.M., at the Depot Community Room, 109 South King Street.  

 A copy of the proposed budget is available at City Hall, 226 South Wall Street, during the regular business hours of 8am-5pm Monday through Friday, and on our website at cityofcalhoun-ga.com. Adoption of the budget is scheduled for June 16, 2025. Questions and/or comments may be submitted for Council consideration via email to snelson@calnet-ga.net, or by faxing to (706) 625-0439 prior to June 12, 2025.

Notice of Zoning Decision

Pursuant to Georgia Code Section 36-66-4(a) the Mayor and City Council of the City of Calhoun hereby give notice that on June 10th at 7:00 pm at the Depot Community Room, 109 South King Street, Calhoun, Georgia, a public hearing shall be held for the purpose of adopting the updated 2025 City of Calhoun Zoning Map.  All those desiring to review and comment on said updated 2025 City of Calhoun Zoning Map are invited to attend.

Free Public Wi-Fi Access

The City of Calhoun is proud to announce free public Wi-Fi access is now available at the Downtown Calhoun City Park, Calhoun Recreation Department’s tennis facility, swimming pool, football field, the new baseball/softball complex, the yellow playground, and the Mauldin Road soccer complex.

The free public Wi-Fi will be available between the hours of 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM.

The Wi-Fi network name is CalhounWiFi and the password is Hometown. 

Some devices may initially prompt a log in page, but no personal information or account setup will be required for login.  Instructional signs will be posted this week in the areas with public Wi-Fi access.  You may submit user feedback to wificomments@calnet-ga.net. 

We would like to thank Brad Carrick and the staff at Calnet for making this opportunity possible.  The equipment was purchased utilizing the Federal Government’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to help implement the goal of additional broadband deployment for the public.  Additional locations are under review and consideration, so stay tuned!
