Duties are:  weed-eating, picking up trash, cleaning right-of-ways, maintenance of city buildings, etc. Must have a valid GA driver’s license.

Cemetery – Part-Time Laborer

Seeking an experienced and motivated individual to serve and protect our community by working closely with the Chief, managing and overseeing training and fire suppression programs, as well as planning and scheduling all maintenance of department vehicles and equipment.

Minimum qualifications to apply include an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science or a related field with possession of applicable State of Georgia certifications; a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible fire service; and possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license is required.

Community Development – City Planner

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for a City Planner in the Community Development Department.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing professional planning and urban design services and performing long-range planning activities regarding growth management, transportation planning, comprehensive planning, downtown development, zoning, and urban design. Reviewing site development plans, reviewing subdivision plats, administering development-related ordinances and regulations, assisting, and directing developers and individuals, approving zoning related permits, and performing additional tasks as assigned. Reports directly to the Director of Community Development.

Qualifications are valid Georgia driver’s license; Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or closely related field; supplemented by a minimum of one-year previous experience and/or training involving urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, and site plan review; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
