The City of Calhoun’s Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control Program protects the public water system from contamination caused by backflow and cross-connections. Backflow is the unwanted reversal of water flow through a cross-connection into the potable water supply. The program is administered in accordance with applicable state regulations and industry standards to maintain compliance and safeguard the integrity of the City’s water distribution system.
Protection is achieved through the proper installation, testing, and maintenance of approved backflow prevention assemblies. All devices must be tested annually by a certified tester. Customers are responsible for ensuring devices are in compliance.
All reports must be on the City’s official test form and submitted via PDF to miburchett@calhounga.gov.
