The City of Calhoun staffs and directs the operations at the River Street recreation facility and Clarence E. Harris River Park. The City is continuing to develop 58.5 acres off of McDaniel Station Road that will eventually be linked to the existing River Street Park. The Recreation Department currently operates 9 softball and baseball fields, 1 gymnasium, 4 full size soccer fields, 1 football field, 15 tennis courts, 1 pool and several acres of green space. The additional park has 1 football field, 1 pavilion and the largest playground in Northwest Georgia. The park will eventually have more softball/baseball fields and a walking trail.

The Recreation Department currently offers youth baseball, softball, spring and fall soccer, football, cheerleading, basketball, and swim lessons. The Recreation Department also offers adult spring softball, fall league softball and basketball.

We currently provide programs for approximately 2,400 children ages 4-18. Programs for adults average approximately 1,025 participants.

In all, the Calhoun Recreation Department serves over 30,000 citizens on an annual basis. In addition to the participants, youth and adult, we also reserve the pavilion to over 20,000 people a year. With the addition of the new pavilion, this number will be sure to rise. The Recreation Department is proud to also serve many walkers, bicycle riders and playground users.
