The City of Calhoun is seeking a qualified Golf Maintenance Director to plan, organize, and direct all operations of the golf course maintenance department. This position is responsible for the overall care, maintenance, and presentation of Fields Ferry Golf Course and grounds, ensuring a safe, attractive, and enjoyable playing experience for patrons while efficiently managing staff, budgets, and resources in compliance with applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily golf course and grounds maintenance operations.
- Develop and implement agronomic and maintenance programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead maintenance staff recruitment, training, supervision, and retention.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance projects, personnel, and equipment usage.
- Monitor and control payroll, supplies, chemicals, fertilizers, and inventory.
- Inspect course conditions regularly and adjust maintenance practices as needed.
- Assist with preparation and monitoring of operational and capital budgets.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, or a related field and a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience;
or an equivalent combination of education and substantial professional experience in golf course management. - Knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, irrigation systems, chemical application, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage budgets.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Georgia Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License.
