Lineman — Electric Department

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for a Lineman with the Electric Department.

Qualifications are a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a certified lineman apprenticeship program. Must be a certified Journeyman Lineman with a valid Class A CDL Georgia driver’s license. At least 3 years of experience in utility line work preferred.

Duties include installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground power lines, transformers, switches, and other electrical infrastructure; operating bucket trucks, digger derricks, and line tools; ability to climb poles and read and interpret electrical system maps, GIS, and construction drawings.

RPF – Professional Legal Services / City Attorney

The City of Calhoun is accepting sealed written proposals to provide legal services as the “City Attorney” for the City of Calhoun. Proposals may be submitted by an individual attorney, or by an attorney who represents a law firm. In any case, the attorney who would serve as the primary legal counsel to the City must be named in this proposal.

Proposals must be clearly marked “City of Calhoun City Attorney RFP – 2025” and received by 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

Basic Firefighter – City of Calhoun Fire Department

The City of Calhoun Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Basic Firefighter.

Qualifications to apply are:

  • Must be at least 18 Years old.
  • Have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Are required to have a valid Georgia driver’s license (progressing to class E or F) and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must not have been convicted of a Felony within the last 10 Years.
  • Be physically prepared to take a Timed, Pass or Fail test, which is the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), as prescribed by the Georgia Firefighters’ Standards and Training Council.
  • Have the ability to pass an extensive background check before being considered for a position.
  • Pass a Medical evaluation and Drug screening after being offered a position.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete and pass a 14-week Rookie School to become a State of Georgia Certified Firefighter, progressing to Firefighter 2, and maintain this certification throughout employment.

Successful qualified applicants will be contacted about the date and time of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and practice times. Contacted applicants will then receive an information packet concerning the requirements for the CPAT.

Resolution Enacting Moratorium on New Applications for Retail Establishments Seeking Alcohol/THC Sales

A resolution enacting a 180-day emergency moratorium on the acceptance or consideration of all applications for zoning decisions, land disturbance permits, and licenses for gas stations, convenience stores, food marts and other retail establishments seeking to sell alcoholic or THC-infused consumables for off-premises consumption. The moratorium will remain in place until January 3, 2026.

Utilities Engineering Department – Project Engineer

The City of Calhoun is now accepting applications for a Project Engineer opening in the Utilities Engineering Department.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the preparation of construction drawings for water/wastewater capital improvement projects, feasibility assessments, technical review of private development design, regulatory permitting, and coordination with utility contractors. Reports directly to the Utilities Engineering Manager.

Candidates must have a valid Georgia driver’s license, bachelor’s degree in engineering with a proficiency in AutoCAD, strong work ethic, good attitude, aptitude for making educated decisions, and fundamental knowledge of fluid dynamics.
