Mission Statement
We, the Calhoun Police Department, will serve our community with the highest degree of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. We will meet the needs of our diverse community through the continued cooperation of our administration, and by cementing a bond between the citizenry, other area law enforcement agencies, and ourselves. We will not forget that we exist to serve and that by enforcing the law justly and fairly, we can bring stability into our society, as no other agency can.
The Department is located at 200 Wall Street in downtown with a second precinct located on Highway 41 South. The Department is responsible for traffic control, investigations, and arrests of those committing misdemeanor and/or felony violations within the city limits. The patrolmen cover approximately 98 miles of roads within 12 square miles, 24 hours daily. The primary purpose of the Police Department is to maintain social order within prescribed ethical and constitutional limits, while providing professional law enforcement services to all. To attain this, the Department enforces the law in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing both statutory and judicial limitations of police authority and the constitutional rights of all persons. The Department actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to decrease the opportunities for crime and to facilitate the maximum use of our resources. The Department will continue to implement a training program to meet the training needs of officers and promote a high level of proficiency in the officers of the Department.
The Police Department is under the command of Police Chief Garry K. Moss, Sr. Chief Moss serves the citizens of the City of Calhoun along with a dedicated staff of four commanding officers, twenty-seven patrol officers, eight investigative officers, four communication officers, one code enforcement officer, one school resource officer, eight administrative personnel, and six school crossing guards. Sharon Jolley is the Administrative Assistant to the Chief.

The addition of 3 leased Harley-Davidson motorcycles will enhance our ability to respond to requests for assistance and a more economical and feasible method to work traffic, and traffic related problems. The lease-purchase of 20 new patrol units will provide a virtually maintenance-free vehicle fleet for the patrol division; and pass accountability for its operation to the officer level. This method of providing a safe, efficient, economical vehicle fleet has been and is proving to be very successful nationwide.
We will not be satisfied with status quo. We must be proactive to properly serve our customers, the citizens of Calhoun. We pledge an honest, competent, accountable, and professional law enforcement agency, one our city can be proud of.
